Congrats to the Buccaneers on winning the Super Bowl, especially the GOAT and the Gronk. Nothing made me happier than seeing Tom Brady find Rob Gronkowski in the endzone again on the biggest stage. Of all the players, I did not expect Brady to have the most fun during the celebration.

Background Analysis

The table below shows the breakdown for each contestant heading into Week 6. The contestants in red were eliminated during the episode.

The model went 2 for 5 this week which accumulates to 9 for 18 on the season. 4 of the 5 contestants who were eliminated had a negative BSR; this means that Katie was the only contestant of the 5 who I did not expect to be eliminated.

The figure below shows the state representation for the remaining contestants following Week 6.

We lost Washington, Illinois, Ohio and Ethiopia this week. California, New York and Oregon are tied with two contestants remaining, and Canada, Georgia, Minnesota and Texas each have one.

The two oldest contestants (Magi and Katie) were eliminated which brings the average age down to 24.5 and keeps the median age at 24. The fact that the mean and the median are close together translates to a lack of skewness in the data.

Show Analysis

Glad the MJ-versus-Jessenia drama was resolved quickly, and I’m happy with the result.

Serena C. made a really bizarre decision before the rose ceremony to attack Katie for ending bullying. Without Katie’s intervention, Matt could be spending more time managing the toxic environment rather than progressing his relationships with each contestant. The argument was entertaining mainly due to Katie’s absolutely lethal hand gestures; I don’t know what these gestures are called, but Katie spared no mercy on Serena C.

Pieper is dope. There’s nothing to not like about her. She knows when to joke around and to be emotional, and her connection with Matt feels strong. Her relatable qualities and self-awareness continue to keep her safe.

Matt appears to not take bowling as seriously as Walter because I definitely saw Bri step over the line. I couldn’t help but cringe when Serena P. said she was falling in love with Matt and he didn’t respond. Michelle continues her strong relationship with Matt and understandably receives the rose.

I like the Tyler C. cameo. I’m a big fan of his from Hannah B.’s season, and I really like how this fan favorite was incorporated into Katie’s 1-on-1 with Matt. We can all agree that Katie was the perfect contestant to have on this Punk’d-style date. Katie is fun, mature, and all-around an amazing person; although I am shocked at her early departure, we knew she wasn’t going to the end, and I respect Matt’s decision to focus on stronger relationships at this stage in The Bachelor.

The whole Heather arc is kinda silly. I don’t think she has a real chance to make it to the end, but I guess I prefer this over petty drama.

Looking Ahead

The table below shows the breakdown for each contestant following Week 6.

It’s nice to see that everyone is getting at least some action on Twitter, but I’m not sure why Rachael was the most popular of those remaining.

The figure below is a visualization of the BSR standings following Week 6.

The bottom three are Serena P., Jessenia, and Serena C., which makes intuitive sense. Those three have not had a lot of screen time and we haven’t seen much of a relationship develop with Matt relative to the other remaining contestants. If any of these three contestants have a 1-on-1 with Matt in the next couple weeks, they will be less about building a relationship and more about Matt confirming that he doesn’t want to keep them around.
