I wish they played Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC during the skydiving part. IYKYK.

Background Analysis

The table below shows the breakdown for each contestant heading into Week 8. Serena P. was eliminated and is therefore highlighted in red.

The model went 1 for 1 this week which accumulates to 14 for 25 on the season. I’m thrilled that I got one perfect week this season, even if only one contestant was eliminated.

The figure below shows the state representation for the remaining contestants following Week 8.

California, Georgia, and Minnesota stay on as Canada is no longer represented among the remaining contestants.

Show Analysis

I didn’t see that same connection between Matt and Michelle that I originally saw on their 1-on-1. Matt seemed to be holding back in his body language, and his answers to Michelle’s father were very professional and vague. The night was capped of with an unreciprocated “I’m falling in love with you” that was a bit too cringe for me to handle. Honestly, the highlight during their hometown was the zoom call with Michelle’s students; that one kid who asked if they are going to have babies knows way too much at his age.

Rachael is such a champ for absolutely eating that landing. I don’t know if she was holding the pain in or what, but she did an amazing job of trying to focus on the date and not on the situation. I admire how open Matt is with Rachael regarding their relationship and telling her that he couldn’t ask her father for his blessing yet. That fact that he is comfortable enough with her to be real about his relationships with the other contestants should reflect well on their potential future.

Matt and Bri do connect on a different level compared to the other contestants. Their emotional connection is stronger than others, and I truly hope it continues to grow throughout the Fantasy Suites. The only there was another “I’m falling in love with you” that wasn’t exactly matched on Matt’s end.

In contrast, Matt and Serena P. have the most fun relationship. They would be a great boyfriend and girlfriend, but the lack of depth at this stage in The Bachelor is not competitive enough to stick around. Serena P. proved her strength by listening to her feelings and communicating them to Matt rather than bottle them up until even later in the show. I will say that the most Canadian thing about Serena P. wasn’t the stuff from their date, but it was the way she said, “I have a lot of doubts that I need to figure out and think about.”

Matt did a great job talking to each contestants’ parents. He’s considering all of his relationships — not just the one with their daughter — when answering their tough questions. He was honest in every answer and didn’t sugarcoat anything, which showcases his maturity and seriousness in finding a partner.

Looking Ahead

While the math behind the BSR works well when there are a lot of contestants, it can be a bit exaggerated when there are only three contestants remaining. With that said, I will not use the BSR for the remainder of the season. I will still share my analysis, but it will be without the aid of BSR predictions.

Here is the Twitter action for each remaining contestant.

I’m taking next week off for the Women Tell All, but I’m looking forward to what appears to be a dramatic Fantasy Suites episode in two weeks.
